The above collection of essays published under the direction of Professor Ousmane Kane of Harvard University (Islam and Contemporary Islamic Societies) was presented and discussed on Tuesday, July 19th at the West African Research Center (WARC) with the following panel presided over by the Director of WARC, Professor Ousmane Sene

All the speakers insisted on the contributions of West African great ulema such as Baay Ibrahima Niass, Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, Mawdo Malick Sy for the dissemination of the Islamic faith and learnedness. And the book itself is a major contribution to Islamic erudition and the major work of African religious leaders to the establishment of Islamic religion and culture in West Africa and the rest of the continent.
