In the course of the year 2022, this will be the second time that senior leaders from various US universities visit Senegal and the West African Research Center (WARC) potentially to build relations of academic and research cooperation with local higher education institutions and the Center.
On Friday, October 28th, 2022, the delegation came to WARC to have a presentation on « Senegal, an African Nation between Islam and the West » followed by a presentation of the West African Research Center by the Director, Professor Ousmane Sene. This was followed by another presentation on study abroad programs at WARC with a specific emphasis on the Minnesota Study in International Development (MSID) operated by the University of Minnesota since 1982 and now headquartered at WARC since the late 90’s.
The delegation included provosts, deans and directors from various US universities: University of Tennessee (Knoxville), University of Kentucky, University of Missouri, University of Florida-Gainesville, University of Alabama, Louisiana State University, University of Arkansas.
After lunch at WARC, the delegation was hosted by the US Ambassador in Senegal and WARC Director joined them for further exchanges on avenues of cooperation and collaboration.
