The University of Pittsburgh visits UCAD and WARC for further academic cooperation

On November 1-5, 2022, the Vice-Chancellor Ariel Armony of the University of Pittsburgh accompanied by Professor Catherine Koverola visited the West African Research Center (WARC) and University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar to explore avenues of cooperation and collaboration in the areas of study abroad initiatives, joint research programs and other institutional ties and endeavors likely to further develop academic exchanges between the Pittsburgh higher education institution and the oldest and largest university in Senegal, UCAD.

On Wednesday, November 2nd, the Director of WARC took the delegation for a working session with the Rector of UCAD, Professor Ahmadou Aly Mbaye. The discussions were very productive and areas of collaboration identified with a possible visit of Rector Mbaye on the Pittsburgh campus.

Later on during the same day, WARC hosted a working lunch at Hotel Terrou Bi with the delegation and representatives of the US Embassy in Dakar. The parties involved also explored avenues for furthering and developing higher education collaboration between U of Pittsburg and their counterparts in the country with the US Embassy pledging to help with diplomatic facilitation.

WARC was recognized by all sides for the efficient facilitation offered to help parties engage in productive interactions.
