HIGHLIGHT: AWE Training Session
The third phase of the African Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) project was launched at the West African Research Center (WARC) on Saturday January 15th, 2022 in the morning. The participants were addressed successively by Professor Ousmane Séne, WARC Director, M. Adama Dieng, Alumni Coordinator, US Embassy, and Mrs Rose Custis, CAO at the US Embassy.
The objective of the project funded by State Department through the US Embassy in Dakar is to offer an 8-month training session to 55 young women entrepreneurs from various regions of the country for this third cycle. The young women entrepreneurs are engaged in projects in various sectors including sports, nutrition, creative industries, agriculture, fish farming, transportation…. The training focuses on networking, coaching and capacity building.
The project is hosted by WARC which also helps manage the budget. This is the third cycle of a project which has proved very effective for the empowerment of young women entrepreneurs in Senegal thanks to the leadership of Mrs Awa Caba, a former Mandela-Washington fellow.
