This panel initiated by Dr Aicha Awa Ba (Social Sciences) was held at WARC on May 8th, 2024, in the wake of the swearing in of the new Senegalese government with the promise and commitment to break away from bad governance practices and usher in a new era of accountability, transparence and engagement for good social causes.

Over 60 people gathered in the Mary Ellen Lane conference room at the West African Research Center while several others attended by Zoom. The panel roster included Dr Awa Aicha Ba, Dr Korka Sall, M. Alassane Diagne of the Dakar-based children care center L’Empire des Enfants, Dr Cheikh Mbow of COSYDEP (promoting education specially for children), Thérèse Sambou from Coalition Nationale pour l’Abandon du Mariage d’Enfants au Senegal (CONAME) and Dr Cheikh Diouf (Social Change Factory).

Several themes touching on education and children were addressed by the panelists and participants actively contributed to the discussions.
