The inaugural conference of the Senegambia Studies Group convened at the West African Research Center (WARC) in Dakar on June 19-20, 2024. The opening ceremony included a number of speakers including the Director of WARC, Professor Ousmane Sene, and the current president of the association, Dr Emily Riley. It was attended by many scholars from the continent, the United States, Mexico, the UK and France. The various panels explored many political, cultural, social, economic, gender etc…. aspects of Senegambia. The keynote address was offered by Dr Ebrima Sall, former Codesria Executive Secretary and currently Executive Director of TrustAfrica.
Over the two days, the proceedings of the conference were attended by 40 participants. The last day was wrapped up with a well-attended reception in the premises of the Center.
